Freed, which is the base of Honda Freed Kloster, underwent a full model change in 2016 and became the second generation. The Freed is a 6/7-seater compact minivan developed based on the Fit platform (chassis), which is a compact car. This platform uses Honda's unique center-tank layout. Despite its compact body size, it features a very spacious interior and luggage compartment.
Kloster based on such Freed was added to the minor change in 2019. The face design of Freed, which has a friendly family car feel, has been slightly changed. By changing the shape of the hood, grill, bumper and lower grille, the face is finished with a slightly fearless and calm look. The underguard-like design of the front bumper gives an SUV taste. The interior uses walnut-like panels to improve texture.
This Freed Kloster is a light, sliding-door SUV-style crossover. It can be said that it is a handy model with an SUV taste that is slightly different from the base model. The interior is almost unchanged. Suitable for those who want a slightly different taste than the basic Freed.
Freed Kloster also has 4WD, but it is not basically an off-road vehicle. It is a 4WD for securing traction on slippery roads. Also, the minimum ground clearance is 135mm for FF (front wheel drive), which is the same as the normal Freed. Therefore, it is suitable for flat unpaved roads. To the last, only the appearance is SUV style, and there is no rough road driving performance of SUV.
There are two types of engines, 1.5L hybrid and 1.5L gasoline. Both output and fuel consumption are as follows. (both FF, WLTC mode)
Power | Fuel consumption | |
---|---|---|
Hybrid | 137ps (system output) | 20.8km/L |
Fuel consumption | 129ps&153Nm | 17.0km/L |
It is highly rated for its surprisingly good fuel efficiency.
Kloster is a 1 grade setting, only engine selection. It depends on your budget, but if you include the resale value, a hybrid car is recommended. The safety equipment "Honda Sensing" including pedestrian detection automatic braking is also standard equipment, so it is safe.
This Fried Kloster is also a minor change in 2019, so used cars continue to be expensive. The used car price of the 2020 Fried Kloster hybrid car is approximately 2.6 million yen. Since the new car price is about 2.78 million yen, it is quite expensive at about 94% of the new car price. If it's this expensive, it's better not to buy a new or used car for a while. As of January 2022, the Freed is at the end of its model phase, and a full model change could happen at any time. If a full model change is made, used car prices will drop dramatically. If it's a used car, it's time to buy after a while after a full model change.
