Audi A8 improved new model, new single frame grille adopted ... Released in Europe

On February 15, Audi released the improved new model "A8" (Audi A8) in the European market. The base price in Germany is announced to be 97,800 euros (about 12.85 million yen).

◆ The appearance has been changed mainly on the front design.

The exterior of the improved new exterior has been completely redesigned at the front. The base of the single frame grill has become wider, and the expanded chrome angle has been redesigned from the bottom to the top. The side air intake has a more upright design. The headlights are also new, and the outer lower end has a unique shape. On the body side, the rocker panel has a new shape, and a blade is attached to the lower end.

The rear was equipped with wide chrome lines, customizable taillights with digital OLED technology, and wide-width segmented light strips. The bumper diffuser insert has been redesigned along with the horizontal bar. A four-out round tail pipe with optimized exhaust flow was also adopted.

For exteriors, in addition to the standard specifications, a chrome exterior package is available. In addition, for the first time in the A8, a new "S-line" exterior package has been set up. The front is differentiated from the standard specifications, and a unique blade is added to the side air intake. You can also choose a black appearance package.

The improved new model is available in 11 colors, including the new metallic district green, pharmament blue, Manhattan gray, and ultra blue. You can also choose from five matte colors: Daytona Gray, Floret Silver, District Green, Terra Gray, and Glacier White. In addition, the "Audi Exclusive Program" allows customers to freely choose their favorite color. The body size of the improved new model is a total length of 5190 mm, a total width of 1950 mm, a total height of 1470 mm, and a wheelbase of 3000 mm.

◆ Full digital "Audi Virtual Cockpit" is set

The improved new interior is equipped with "MMI Touch Response". The operation is performed with two displays, 10.1 inch and 8.6 inch, and voice control corresponding to daily conversation. To start voice control, say "Hey Audi". In the fully digital "Audi Virtual Cockpit" with an optional heads-up display, important information is displayed directly in the driver's field of view.

"MMI Navigation Plus" is also standard equipment. The 3rd generation modular infotainment toolkit "MIB 3" will be adopted. The navigation system is equipped with the "Audi connect" online service and the "Car-2-X" service as standard equipment.

◆ Digital OLED rear light that works with advanced driver assistance systems

The digital matrix LED headlight, which operates on the same principle as a video projector, has introduced "DMD (Digital Micromirror Device)" technology in the improved new model. Each headlamp is equipped with about 1.3 million micromirrors, and we take pride in being able to control the optical axis of the headlights with high accuracy by distributing the light into small pixels.

One example of the new features realized by this is the lane light and orientation light when driving on the highway. The headlights act as a carpet of light, illuminating the driving lane brightly. The orientation light says that the driver can intuitively stay in the driving lane even in the road construction section. Digital matrix LED headlights activate the dynamic coming home / leaving home function when the driver unlocks or leaves the vehicle. This feature deploys a light show on the ground or walls, much like a projector.

The improved new A8 is equipped with a digital OLED rear light as standard equipment. OLED is an organic light emitting diode, and you can choose from two types of rear light signatures when ordering a vehicle. When you select the "Dynamic" mode in Audi Drive Select, the rear light changes to a light signature dedicated to this mode.

The digital OLED rear light has a built-in proximity display function linked to the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). This feature turns on all OLED segments when another vehicle approaches within 2m of the rear of the stopped vehicle. Additional features include dynamic turn signals, as well as coming home and leaving home sequences.
