On July 28, 2021, the Raspberry Pi Foundation introduced "Digital Film Cartridge for Analog Cameras," which can be converted into a digital camera by modifying a 35mm film camera as an example of using Raspberry Pi.
The camera used this time is the single-lens reflex camera "Cosina Highlight" about 50 years ago. If you load a Raspberry Pi-based camera module instead of film, it will look like an analog camera and the contents will be a digital camera.
The camera module is shaped like a film pulled out from a film cartridge, with a LiPo battery and DC-DC converter on the cartridge loading part, a "Raspberry Pi camera" with the lens removed on the imaging surface, and a "Raspberry Pi" on the film winding side. The necessary parts are well incorporated into the small space inside the camera, such as "Zero W".
In addition to taking photos and videos through conventional optical systems, you can also livestream via Wi-Fi and save to an SD card. However, since the sensor size is 1/4 inch, the focal length converted to 35mm film will be longer.
The creator said, "I'm glad I got a really interesting and good image, and it's strange that the old camera is livestreaming," he said, and experienced this idea to bring new life to the old camera to others. I want you to do it. In addition to demonstrating on Youtube, CAD data of the cartridge part is also open to the public.
