Google's smart camera "Nest Cam" and doorbell "Nest Doorbell" are finally coming to Japan. Finally, since Google acquired Nest in 2014 and Dropcam in the same year, I was wondering if I could sell security cameras (= smart cameras) in Japan as soon as possible.

Until 2019, I really wanted to watch over my mother who lives alone. However, since I was asked to enter a nursing home for the elderly near my house, I no longer need it (in principle, I refuse to install a watching camera even in a private room).

However, since I had the experience of installing a Planex smartphone (the purchase price at that time was about 17,000 yen) at my parents' house in 2016, I think that I can say a little about the impression of using Nest Cam, from Google. I borrowed "Google Nest Cam (indoor / outdoor / battery-powered)" (hereinafter referred to simply as "Nest Cam"). As a side note, I also lent "Google Nest Doorbell" (hereinafter "Doorbell"), but I will introduce this at another time.

We are a condominium apartment with no garden, but we used to be a thief from the balcony side, so we decided to install the Nest Cam on the balcony.

I also wanted to watch over the car in the parking lot on the premises of the condominium (because it does not have a drive recorder), but it can only be used where there is accessible Wi-Fi, and our Wi-Fi is up to that point. I'm giving up because it doesn't arrive.

The inside of the Nest Cam box looks like this. All of Google's hardware has few manuals, but this is also just paper. However, if you have the "Google Home" app installed on your smartphone (I'm Pixel 5 but iPhone is OK), you can set it by following the instructions on the screen without a manual.
