A crew member who erases the number "CL37" from the patrol boat "Hakaze" at the decommissioning ceremony = Yokosuka Coast Guard Office
On the 12th, the Yokosuka Coast Guard Department held a decommissioning ceremony for the patrol boat "Hakaze" (length 20 meters, total weight 24 tons). For 28 years, he has been active in maritime rescue and crackdowns on reckless personal watercraft. The crew regretted saying goodbye to the ``sea patrol car''. The ship's name comes from "Hayama" and is the second generation with the same name. Commissioned in February 1994, it operated mainly in the Miura Peninsula as the smallest patrol boat of the Japan Coast Guard with a capacity of 5 people. A total of 527 dispatches were made, including tanker oil spills and collisions between MSDF Aegis destroyers and fishing boats. A total of 94 people and 61 ships were rescued. Last year, he was also involved in security for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. At the decommissioning ceremony, the crew lowered the stern flag and the Japan Coast Guard flag and erased the "CL37" number written on the hull. Shuichi Naganuma, 39, who became the last captain of the ship, praised him, saying, "He served without breaking down until the end." A successor patrol boat is scheduled to be introduced soon. The successor ship will be equipped with electronic equipment such as radar and night-monitoring equipment, and will be equipped with toilets and other facilities so that female staff can also board.
