Published on SixTONES's new video YouTube, photographed on Sony "Kiyosumi Shirakawa Base"
The video work "Resonance" released this time is a 6 -member group of the Johnny's Office belonging to the Sony Music Labels, a YouTube -only video project "PLAYLIST -SIXTONES YouTube Limited, aimed at fusion of new video expression and performance.Produced as the fourth installment of Performance-.
The project has published a total of three original performance videos, and says, "The highlight of the video expression and production that cannot be easily realized on terrestrial sound music programs, and the performance of six SixTONES members."
"Resonance" is the first public release of Sony's new studio "Kiyosumi Shirakawa Base" (already reported), which permanently installed virtual production (VP) using LED walls.
It is a camera work that takes advantage of the characteristics that changes in real time in real time according to the movement of the camera in line with the movement of the camera."The background of a closed space dotted with geometric objects inspired by the world of songs to an endless space -like space in an instant has a magnificent scale."
Mr. Ogawa, who was good at spatial production utilizing VFX and optical knowledge, was in charge of RADWIMPS and One OK ROCK music videos, YOASOBI's "Nice To Meet You" VISION LED comprehensive production.

SixTONES comment
Like the attractions, the background was moving in conjunction with the camera, so I felt it was likely to be taken into the video because of the sense of presence.Unlike when shooting with a green back, it was fresh to be able to check the image close to the completed form on the spot.It was very easy to understand that the finished form was able to see the finished form.
It was very easy to grasp, thinking, "If you have this in the background, let's do this," and move in consideration of your height according to the background movement.I also felt that it was easy to unify the image of the world view with other members and staff.
Also, when I watched this video, I was surprised at the beauty again, and I felt like I was really there.I thought that the beauty of this video would be used in various places in the future, and it seems that there are many possibilities.
The highlight is how our performance and state -of -the -art technology match.
The MV of "Resonance" is photographed with a full green back, inserting a lip sync from there, interweaving its own image cuts, and processing a CG that moves it quickly."I will make it".
This time, I'm shooting in a way that is more like a one -kame show, so it's easier to see our appearance and performance, and the background and situations that make it stand out are the only one.I think that you can enjoy it with a different perspective.
Because it is such a time, I would like to use it for a live show or distribution live, for example.I thought that even those who could not come to the live venue would be delivered to the performance that they could not taste before.
I felt the possibility that we could express what we could not express before, by overlapping our live production with our live production.By using virtual production, I thought it would be possible to make a lot of productions that could be realized only because of the distribution live.
Comments by Director Ogawa
Virtual production (VP) itself has been experienced in several works in the past.
VP is a shooting method that greatly depends on both hardware and software, so I feel that it is a very important project to understand "what can be done" and "where there is a bottleneck".I am.
So, I started by interviewing the studio specifications, and I thought about "where to win as an expression" with creators.
Kiyosumi Shirakawa Base has a large and high -definition Crystal LED.In addition, VENICE can be used for the camera. It was very high as the specifications, and I felt that as a user, we should not try "how far we can use".If the base specifications are high, the range that can be selected from the beginning is wide. That's why I was able to talk about various things innocently and positively.
You can also select the brightness of the LED, so you can shoot the LED itself as a light source, or you can make it dark and firmly create a lighting in front of you.VENICE can be properly described in the gradation and low -light environment of the dark part.
It was very good to be able to choose the machine specifications depending on what you want to make, and that you can decide by verifying it while doing it.
The technology used in virtual production, such as game engines and tracking systems, is evolving quickly, and the workflows and expressions are evolving steadily accordingly, but I feel that this studio has a depth of pockets.I did it.I'm really looking forward to what will happen in the future.
When making music videos, etc., I often cut the cuts while increasing the quality of one work, but this time, along with the fun of the paintings unique to VP, SIXTONES dance performance.I aimed for a long take -out configuration so that you can watch it firmly.
What is difficult in VP is where the height as the expression effect and the balance between the height and the machine load, and where to set up a drop.Despite the high -spec environment, it was a big challenge to optimize the heavy expressions of processing. The best challenge was to express a space that changes rapidly, such as changes in lighting, changes in shape, and the stage itself collapsed in one cut.
The advantage of the basic VP is that unlike shooting with a chroma key, you can take a picture while watching the finished form on site.If the recognition of the worldview later synthesized in chroma key is gradually shifted by each staff, opinions may be different.
I usually always be conscious of communicating so that there is no gap in the perceptions and values there, but if it is a VP, it is actually visible, so the "share in the direction you want to proceed" is more. You can do it smoothly.
Actually, the actors and performers who stand in front of the camera as a subject can take the take with a clearer image, so I think it is very meaningful in terms of improving performance and play.I think it is a great advantage that both staff and performers can communicate one step ahead to enhance their creative.
When I make a work with VP, my advancedness always dances, but this time I knew it, and there were many times when I thought "Oh, amazing!"I feel strongly that it is not only as a technique as a technique, but also due to the high level of the studio, such as hard and soft aspects.
You can jump big by imagination and respond.I would like to continue to pursue this technology that has a depth of pockets in my work.
What is virtual production?
The VP used in this shoot is a large LED display with a 3DCG background video, and before that, the objects and people in the real space are placed with a camera, and "in a place projected in the background.A shooting technique that realizes "video production as if actually shot.
So far, it has been used in the concept movie of Sony's electric vehicle "Vision-S" and the shooting of the first live-action drama "Mandalorian" in the "Star Wars" series by Disney, creating a new form of video expression. It is attracting attention as a video method.
In conventional studio shooting, the mainstream was to create sets and perform synthetic processing with green back.In VP, the space is digitized and shooting using a digital set instead of a real set, but the technology is required to "use high -quality CG in real time".What is needed is a game engine, for example, the Mandalorian shooting uses UNREAL ENGINE 4 developed by Epic Games.
In VP, the background created with 3DCG is shot with a camera like a real space. In front of the screen, actors perform acting, directing with props, and shooting together with writing, so you can pursue realistic imaging expressions that are indistinguishable from real sets and location shooting. In addition, it is irradiated and rendering from a camera perspective, providing parallax in real time to provide reality. You can also create the future, the past, the situation of a different world, etc. in a virtual set and use it for images.
If you create an art set such as laying a mirror stage and sand on the front of the display, you can create a realistic space that does not know the boundary between the real space and the virtual space. It is also possible to create a wind to the performers according to the background, and create a sense of unity of the performer.

Kiyosumi Shirakawa Base aims to be a place where the creator and advanced technology meet.We hope that the two will meet the potential of video production and create new expressions. To that end, it is meaningful to be a permanent studio, and we hope that various technologies will be gathered there. This time, as the first technology, we created a permanent virtual production studio.
Virtual production is a technology that allows you to shoot a 3DCG space like a real space. The biggest advantage is that you can take a picture as if you were shooting in a real place or a situation where it was difficult to shoot. You can create the video you really want to make on an efficient schedule.
This time, for the first time as a public work, I photographed SixTONES's song performance.By realizing real -time background synthesis, the characteristics of virtual production technology that can freely create creative expressions based on the constraints of conventional video production, and SixTONES, an artist belonging to Sony Music Labels. This project has been realized by matching the fusion of the new video expression and artist performance that is aimed at PLAYLIST.
There were many "static" backgrounds trying to reproduce the real space, such as commercials, movies and concept movies that have been produced so far, but this time, a laser beam is included in the background itself displayed in the LED.It was a virtual production using a "dynamic" background that incorporates new challenges as a music expression, such as a live feeling. When I watched the video that six SixTONES performed in front of the background, I felt a new possibility as a virtual production.
